Newest version worse than ever. Getting a lot of spinning circles and "content not available." Cant wait for my subscription to expire.

If I could rate it zero stars I would. You cant tell if youre reading current content or something from last week, last month or even last year. If the goal was to push the readers back to the print edition, it worked.
Once again, crapApp. How is it both San Antonio News and Dallas Morning News are so far advanced than Houston Chronic App?
Agree with other posters that Id give this version zero stars if that was an option. It constantly crashes, and when it is running, it is sluggish and unresponsive. Glad I still have a print version to read.
What possessed the Houston Chronicle to put out sets a poorly designed app for their newspaper? Ive read the reviews and everyone hates it. I find it useless. Whats the point?
This is one of 4 newspapers I have on my iPad and it is without a doubt the very worst. Not only does it take an inexplicably long time to load the daily paper, but then it takes way too long to flip the page on stories. I have waited minutes for the second page of a story to load. Plus there are major issues with the paper refusing to load a new days edition... For instance it is Friday and I cannot get an edition past Wednesday to load. Then there is the problem with the lack of symmetry between the app and the website. I have the app but I cannot view the newspapers content online... Even with the account I set up for the app... For the fourth largest city in our country this is inexcusably poor
The Chron iPad app performance has deteriorated from previous versions. Slow to load, slower when attempting to launch to articles. Although it improved initial visual look, it dumps all articles from previous days into sections which makes it hard to distinguish which are new articles for each day vs. those 2 or 3 days old. It appears it is now designed for people that wish to read it once a week rather than committed every day readers that may read it by each section. Outdoor daily reports in sports is buried.
Thats all, folks.
This new version of the Chron App is terrible! (1) Doesnt resemble a newspaper at all. (2) No longer able to go back and re-read an article in a earlier edition. (3) Very slow opening up. Spinning disc, the light is on but no ones home, info not available. I dislike this version immensely. Seriously thinking of dropping my app subscription altogether!
This version of the app is even worse than the prior version. It rarely functions correctly, it rarely takes you to the selected section, it takes a long time to pull up a selected article. I have other subscriptions with apps that function so much better, there is just no comparison.
The app had gone for bad to unusable with the latest "updates". It rarely is ever usable at all. This is without a doubt the worst excuse for a news app ever! It has no resemblance to an organized effort at presenting the equivalent of the newspaper electronically. There is no flow, logical organization or intuitive look to it. Its as if it was a summer project given to an intern.
This app is unreliable, slow and frustrating. Today it shows "updated Saturday April 2" but will only display yesterdays paper. Needs a complete redesign.
Even though the comics are presented in reverse order (newest strip on the left instead of the right), their presentation is in good quality. The rest of the content is stale and hangs around forever, like the same front page for three days running. Its a joke.
It never stops amazing me but every update to this app just makes it worse. They did some nice format change but even after you hit the button to download the paper twice, and it says completed both times, once you open up the paper offline most if not all the articles are still not downloaded. You have to go open each article you want to read while online to get it to download, then you can read it offline. Huge waste of time.
The app is terrible. It freezes up regularly. When it does load, and you select a link, it freezes again. You have to kill the app. Customer support response is always the same, "were working on it". This is the fourth largest city in the US and we only have one paper. Its a shame the Hearst corporation doesnt put more resources into this as the hard copy newspaper business is a dying breed . Extremely disappointed. I am reading the paper in a web browser instead.
I went from hard copy thrown daily to the electoronical version about six months ago and as has been pointed out—each update gets worse! Now I can not access the newspaper nor our news feeds. Please fix this app and refund the past week + subscription fees we paid. No news is not necessarly good news…
Why is this App so big? It is by far the largest App I have. It is very slow and freezes constantly. Please make revisions so this is easier and quicker to use.
Go back to the first version which was fast and loaded every time. Now things look fancy and all you get is a spring wheel when you try to load an article
App response is incredibly slow, often taking minutes to load one story. Also, after using it for a month or so, storage use went up to 1Gb for the app, which is incredible since it no longer makes previous editions of the paper available. As a loyal Chronicle reader and app user for years now, Im throwing in the towel and going elsewhere for news.
The latest format change is a bad form of the website. I would never have paid for this. The app used to have the feel of a newspaper. Now I cant find anything or decide what to read. I ended auto renew on my subscription and will let it expire in the current format.
